Webinar Summary

National work force surveys demonstrate that staffing challenges including shortages are the leading problem in nursing today. Appropriate staffing not only lies at the root of quality patient care but also strongly impacts the health of the work environment.

In response to the needs of nurses in our community and beyond, AACN led collaboratives to identify staffing solutions, including the Partners for Nurse Staffing Think Tank and the Nurse Staffing Task Force. Based on their recommendations, AACN has published standards for appropriate staffing that provide specific actions and resources to promote implementation.

In addition to learning about these standards, participants will benefit from a panel discussion offering the perspectives of two direct care nurses and a chief nursing officer. The event also features Q&A time with the panelists. This webinar will help you identify actions you can take to apply this new resource in your own work environment.

Objectives

  • Discuss key concepts from AACN’s Standards for Appropriate Staffing in Adult Critical Care.
  • Identify two actions from this new resource that can be applied to your work environment.
  • Describe how your current role can support implementation of AACN’s standards.
