Webinar Summary

As a progressive or critical care nurse, are you prepared to care for unexpected trauma patients who may be redirected to your unit during disaster situations or mass casualty events?

Our three-part Trauma Care webinar series is designed to provide progressive and critical care nurses with the essential information needed to safely treat post-resuscitation trauma patients — even if you don’t routinely care for them. This third and final webinar in the series uses a body systems approach to educate ICU and PCU nurses about the basics of trauma care:

  • Focuses on the lower body: traumatic abdominal, pelvic and long bone injuries
  • Includes body systems-based assessment, clinical management considerations, complications and associated mitigation strategies

Your questions are welcome and will be answered by the presenter in a Q&A document added to the Resources section of this page later this year.

Objectives

  • Identify body systems assessment for traumatic abdominal, pelvic and long bone injuries.
  • List the clinical management considerations for traumatic abdominal, pelvic and long bone injuries.
  • Identify the body systems complications and mitigation strategies for traumatic abdominal, pelvic and long bone injuries.
