Webinar Summary

The Joint Commission (TJC) introduced the concept of drip titration accompanied by block charting. This webinar addresses one facility’s process to implement the drip titration and block charting recommendations. The staff, which included all stakeholders, plus pharmacy and nursing informatics, consulted with TJC to ensure their policies, procedures and implementation would be appropriate; another goal was to decrease the charting burden for clinicians providing patient care while also meeting survey needs. A 15-minute Q&A closes the presentation.

Objectives

  • Discuss updated TJC titration order and block charting recommendations.
  • Review the components of TJC’s policy development for medication orders, titration and block charting implementation.
  • Follow the development of block charting documentation in the EHR.
