Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

As critical care nurses, we all know the value of evidence-based practice. And yet, the reality is, we still see significant delays in the translation of research into practice. This session will employs an interactive approach to provide attendees with key information about relevant pediatric research, including a focus on nurse-led studies. Six to 10 key studies published in the last 2 years are reviewed with a focus on major findings, strengths, limitations and implications for nursing practice.

Objectives

  • Review key findings of six to 10 recent research studies with significant impact on the care of acute and critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Discuss the strengths, limitations and implications for nursing practice of each study presented.
  • Describe opportunities and challenges you may face when implementing this evidence into your practice.
