Activity Summary

Required reading for all learners: Implicit Bias impacts patient outcomes

In this session, we use an interactive approach to explore the concept of joy and meaning at work and discuss the relationship between finding joy, staff engagement and patient outcomes. We identify strategies leaders can use to find and enhance their own feelings of joy and meaning and share strategies to help their teams do the same. Common barriers to sustaining joy and meaning are also discussed, as strategies to prevent and/or overcome those barriers are presented.

Objectives

  • Describe the relationship between staff engagement, patient safety and joy and meaning in the workplace.
  • Identify two to three strategies you can implement now to find and keep joy and meaning in your daily work.
  • Discuss approaches to help your teams find joy and meaning in their daily work.
