Lynn Orser, MSN, RN, CCRN, PCCN, NPD-BC, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026. She also serves a concurrent one-year term on the AACN Certification Corporation board from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.
Orser is a nursing professional development (NPD) specialist, critical care, at Hartford Healthcare, St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, Connecticut, who is dedicated to teaching and mentoring. She was a preceptor when she worked at the bedside and says she was “honored to receive an AACN Circle of Excellence award.” Orser continues to mentor nurses, including those in graduate school and new NPD practitioners.
Her work with AACN includes writing certification items and test development for the CCRN and PCCN exams. She was a member of the Chapter Advisory Team from 2016 to 2019. Orser has been on the planning committee for the Horizons Region 1 Critical Care Symposium since 2010, serving as chair in 2018. Since 2004, she has been a member of the South Central Connecticut Chapter, also serving as president, treasurer and membership chair.
Additional affiliations include membership in the American Nurses Association, Connecticut Nurses Association, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Association for Nursing Professional Development and Emergency Nurses Association. Orser received a Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing in 2020 and 2004. She is also the author of “How to Recruit and Retain Volunteers for Your Professional Organization,” which was published in American Nurse in 2020.
Orser earned a Master of Science, nursing education, at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island.
In her free time, she “loves to craft, especially knitting. I started the prayer shawl ministry at my previous employer and continue to donate my creations to a variety of charitable causes.”
