Kristina Brooks, DNP, MBOE, RN, CCRN, AACC, LSSBB, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2027.

Brooks is director of cardiac services at WVU Medicine Camden Clark Medical Center. As a nurse leader in cardiology and cardiac, thoracic and vascular surgery, she focuses on staff engagement and process and quality improvement. She led the committee that helped the CVICU earn the Beacon Award for Excellence — one of two units at her organization that were the first units statewide to achieve this distinction.

Brooks is an executive board member of AACN’s North Central West Virginia Chapter and an AACN ambassador. She serves on the board of directors of Wood County Society, which meets the needs of individuals with disabilities across 12 counties. In addition, she is a member of the American College of Cardiology and American Organization for Nursing Leadership.

Brooks earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Master of Business Operational Excellence (MBOE) from The Ohio State University. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an associate’s degree in nursing at Ohio University.

To manage stress and maintain a healthy work/life balance, Brooks spends her free time oil painting. She also enjoys gardening, canning, quilting and needlework.
