Desiree Hodges, MBA, BSN, RN, CCRN, NE-BC, serves a three-year term as a director on the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) board of directors from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2026.

Hodges is nurse manager of a critical care unit at Novant Health in Charlotte, North Carolina. A nurse for 25 years, she focuses on the growth and development of new nurses, and she helps ensure novice and experienced nurses have the tools and resources to care for patients and families. She works with colleagues, nursing directors and chief nursing officers to explore various care models to ensure appropriate staffing.

An ambassador since 2017, Hodges served on the AACN Competency Advisory Panel (2021), the AACN - AACN Certification Corporation Nominating Committee (2020-2021) and the Chapter Advisory Team (2017-2020). She has been a member of AACN’s Diamond State Chapter and Piedmont Carolinas Chapter since 2015.

Hodges also focuses on the health of the work environment. She presented “Developing Our Future in the New Millennium and Creating Healthy Work Environments: The Multigenerational Workforce” at NTI 2022. In addition, she was a contributor to “AACN Competence Framework for Progressive and Critical Care: Initial Competency 2022.”

Additional affiliations include service as an ALS advocate and ambassador for the ALS United North Carolina Chapter of the ALS Association.

She earned a post Master of Science in Nursing certificate in nursing leadership education at Wilmington University, Delaware; a Master of Business Administration, healthcare administration certification, at Fayetteville State University, North Carolina; and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina.

And she practices self-care with yoga!
