Eligibility

The COVID 19-Micro-Credential supported the clinical practice of healthcare professionals providing direct care to patients with severe pulmonary conditions requiring mechanical ventilation. Patients on ventilators are located throughout hospitals and acute care facilities, so care providers pursuing this micro-credential were not limited to any particular clinician, unit or setting. The skills, competencies and topics in this micro-credential were based on U.S. practice standards.

Micro-credential exam content is regularly evaluated. As practice changes, micro-credentials may be retired and a new exam may be offered. The COVID-19 Pulmonary and Ventilator Care Micro-Credential has been replaced by the ARDS Micro-Credential.

Applicants earned their COVID-19 Pulmonary and Ventilator Care Micro-Credential by successfully completing an exam to validate their knowledge in this specialty area. The exam:

  • Included items developed based on the content in AACN’s “COVID-19: Pulmonary Care” Online Course
  • Had a 90-minute limit to answer 38 questions
  • Required 28 correct answers for a passing score
  • Offered 2 CERPs (Category A) upon passing the exam
